Sterkh-2, named after a species of waterfowl, is a general purpose utility knife. Reminiscent of most Scandinavian, flat ground "puukko" type knives, the Sterkh-2's design and profile allow it to be pushed into service to undertake the majority of tasks. These could include hunting, fishing, camping, etc.
Blade geometry and grind type are what make this design so effective. It is a world renowned fact that flat ground blades of this type and thickness are hard to beat when it comes to slicing, skinning and carving. All these attributes combine to make this pattern of blade the standard to which others are judged by.
The professionally sharpened, flat ground blade is of 3mm thick, Z50 steel, mirror polished to a high lustre. This model of knife is constructed with a full tang, the handle slabs (of crafted, resin impregnated Caucasian walnut) are permanently riveted onto the tang. A small portion of the tang protrudes from the base of the handle to permit the knife to be used as a small ice chipping hammer-an essential extra in the dead of winter when ice removal from all and sundry is a basic necessity.
A good sheath or scabbard can, in some respects, be just as important as the knife itself because without a sheath or scabbard, the chances of losing your knife increase exponentially. It is therefore an absolute must that with any good knife there should be an equally good sheath. Kizlyar knives are no exception, they all come with a beautifully hand made leather sheath. Heavily treated to resist the elements and retain their form. This model knife, in keeping with the Russian / Scandinavian pattern, is accompanied with a sheath of the enclosed type.
Completely encasing the entire knife and obviously includes a belt loop.
